Things are both spook AND sweet for this Pawctober edition of the Meow Factor with NEKO Cat Cafe!

Our October adoptable cat of the month is the sweet and shy Mabel with a gentle spirit looking for her furever home. But…of course it is Elvira season, so Drew and Rae also chat all things Hisstress of the Dark!

Listen to full audio segment and learn about these ladies below!

Adoptable Cat Feature – Mabel!

Meet Mabel! She’s the sweetest 1-year old girl. Mabel started with us as our most nervous kid. Without lots of treats and the presence of another nice kitty (shoutout Zest) we couldn’t quite pet this lil former-feral lady without stressing her. We expected to adopt her out from our purrivate suite after loads of socialization work, BUT (and we tell her this every day) Mabel is quietly very brave!

This kid has grown SO much in a far shorter time than we anticipated. She may still be our cubby cat, but she ventures out into the cat room, looooves pets from her visitors, and continues to be very cool with her kitty pals!

We’re so purroud of the purrogress she’s already made here and we want to find her a home as soon as pawsible to continue helping her grow in a quieter environment.

She’s so gentle and has the sweetest little spirit. We think she’ll be a wonderful kitty at home with folks who’re open to letting her take her time figuring out that she’s safe and loved. Besides getting a tiny bit spicy when overwhelmed, she’s not had any behavioral issues and is a generally very nice girl! She’d be fine with kids that understand boundaries and she’d be so cool with other kitties!

Interested in adopting Mabel? We’d love to chat with you at info@nekocatcafe.com and come see her any time at NEKO Seattle! If you can’t find her, check the cubbies!

October’s Cat of the Month – Elvira!

October is a very special time for Cat of the Month! Elvira: Hisstress of the Dark is NEKO Seattle’s spookiest critter. Each October is Elvira Season. In accordance with the lore we’ve put out on social media over five frightful Octobers, Elvira gains mystical spooky powers each October, which make her very volatile (think steroids) so ourselves and her loyal followers must tread very lightly around the tyrant Muppet in order to not be cursed by her more frightful whims.

While we pray you won’t tell the Hisstress this: Elvira is secretly the tiniest, silliest little soot sprite. She came to us as a kitten and has remained the happiest cafe cat! She spends all day climbing on her visitors’ shoulders, fighting all our brooms (witch stuff), and playing with her kitty pals!

Elvira’s 2026 Purrtection Pin features The Hisstress getting beamed up by some sort of Unidentified Feline Object (UFO) along with her crown, broom, and an incidental ear of corn from a crop circle. NOTE: Elvira’s Pin cannot guarantee complete purrtection from the Hisstress’ whims, but she’s assured those who don her visage are “blessèd.”
