Leaving a legacy to DANCE 89.5
Bequests are exempt from federal estate taxes. If you have a taxable estate, the estate tax charitable deduction may offset or eliminate estate taxes, resulting in a larger inheritance for your heirs.
Typically, donors make bequests to DANCE 89.5 by:
- Specifying a percentage of their estate
- Naming a specific dollar amount
- giving the residue of their estate to DANCE 89.5

How do I start?
DANCE 89.5 recommends you talk to your estate professional.
Is there a recommend wording for my bequest?
Here is an example of wording which you may wish to include in your bequest:
“I hereby, give, devise and bequeath [the residue and remainder of my estate or a specific dollar amount or percentage] to c89.5/ KNHC Public Radio Association, a non-profit organization located at 10750 30th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125, and whose IRS Tax ID number is 20-5402402. I wish to allocate my gift to support DANCE 89.5’s music and educational programs.”
The same tax ID number and wording applies to beneficiary designations of IRA’s, life insurance policies, trusts, or other legal instruments.
Can I designate how my legacy is used?

*If, in the judgment of the Board of Directors of c89.5 / KNHC Public Radio Association, it shall become impossible for c89.5 / KNHC Public Radio Association to use your bequest to accomplish the specific purposes of the bequest, c89.5 / KNHC Public Radio Association may use the income and principal of this gift for such purpose or purposes as the Board determines is most closely related to the restricted purpose of my bequest.
