Keano (Keano Martinez) a 2006-2010 KNHC alumni, is a dynamic radio personality and uplifting live host/DJ for The Bassment, driving bass music on DANCE 89.5 since 2010. Bringing a lighthearted, infectious energy and a massive passion for the underground culture, Keano transforms the digital airwaves into the ultimate feel-good destination with a high-energy mix of the best in bass music. From deep, lurking, and sinister synth lines, to hyphy, heavy, timeless anthems, Keano curates a unique and powerful experience through his track selection, dedication and love for the deeper ends of dance music.
On The Bassment, Keano has local, national and international artist featured mixes, up and coming producers, interviews, new and unreleased music, as well as festival and label take-overs. Through working with DANCE 89.5 Keano has interviewed countless artists from heavyweights in the electronic music scene, including Billboard award winning artists ILLENIUM and LMFAO, as well as other internationally recognized artists including Friction, Dirtyphonics, Stylust, Borgore, Sihk, KJ SAWKA (of Pendulum and Destroid), Klippee and many more interviews, guest mixes and features from artists based locally and around the world.
DJing since 2006, Keano has built a reputation as a true “DJ’s DJ” with a deep-rooted love for all music and his beginnings on vinyl, proudly taught while a student in the radio program by producer/DJ Tony Rocky Horror and other alumni and former DANCE 89.5 specialty show hosts. His performance footprint spans coast to coast, taking him from opening massive, landmark events at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington to crossing the country to headline a completely sold-out rooftop club set at Trio Nightclub—Charleston, South Carolina’s. His live mixing has commanded the region’s largest stages, support-DJing multiple major, sold-out Seattle tour stops at massive venues. This includes Flosstradamus’s HDYnation takeover to a completely sold-out Tacoma Dome, Zeds Dead’s iconic Deadbeats tour at the WAMU Theater, and Rezz’s Mass Manipulation tour to a packed, sold-out crowd at Showbox SoDo as well as an at capacity stage for Bumbershoot at Seattle Center alongside Kemlite under their duo alias Highdrops.
Beyond the microphone, Keano operates as an accomplished AV and Event Production Technician. He has spent almost two decades building massive live entertainment experiences from the ground up, serving as a technician for major production companies. He is most accomplished as a lead LED Wall technician, lead SFX technician, and Backline Tech for massive EDM festivals at the Gorge Amphitheatre and Seattle’s WAMU Theater. From staging large-scale festivals to engineering visual displays at arenas like Climate Pledge Arena and Showbox Sodo.
At home in the Pacific Northwest, Keano is a passionate supporter of the local NW music scene and loves spending quality time with his family and four beloved pets: two bunnies and two cats. A proud, self-proclaimed Dungeons & Dragons nerd, he has amassed a collection of over 100 Forgotten Realms novels and even named his bunnies, Drizzt and Cattie-Brie, after the iconic literary characters. When it is time to unwind and catch up on TV, you can find him binging anime, diving into reality shows, or rewatching classic Star Trek with Deep Space Nine standing as his absolute favorite.
