Get Your Music Heard

We love hearing new music from Seattle and beyond! To make sure that you and your music have the best chance to be considered for on-air play, please read through and follow these important guidelines when submitting music to DANCE 89.5.

Step One

Prepare your music for submission

  • All tracks should be high quality and easily downloaded. Consider using Dropbox, Google Drive, or another file sharing service when sending links.
  • Only send clean radio edits that do not contain FCC violations (see below).
  • Create an EPK/Press Kit with links to web links and social media.

Step Two

Identify which show it would be best on

Do you have a favorite show or host who you think will vibe with your tunes? Good news! You can directly reach out to a specific host if you think your music fits the format of their show. We also have a general music submission email address on this page!

Step Three

Submit your music

When you are ready to submit your music for air play consideration please keep the following in mind before you hit send on that email:
  • Do not send links to YouTube, Apple Music, or Spotify.
  • One or two focus tracks are highly encouraged (rather than an entire album or EP)
Also don’t forget to include the following information:
  • Release date(s)
  • Album/EP title
  • Record label (when applicable)

After you hit send on that submission email, keep in mind that we receive a large volume of new music submissions daily. We love listening and responding to everything but that takes time, so please be patient!

Please do not:

Submit through social media

Harassing social media accounts associated with DANCE 89.5 or our show hosts/DJs about your music submission will not help get your music played on this radio station. We will not consider music sent via direct message or if we are tagged in posts on social media.

Submit on the text line

Links to music sent via the text line will not be considered.

Call the station

If you give us a phone call about music, our staff will refer you to this submittal platform.

Send physical copies

We do not accept physical submissions of music on tape, CD, or vinyl records. Digital submissions are easier to review and ultimately play. We do not have the physical space and would rather that you save your money and the environment from all that extra plastic and vinyl.

Thanks!

FAQ

DANCE 89.5 strives to represent the full width and breadth of electronic music and we are always open to new sounds, artists and ways to think about what electronic is and can be. Our daily rotations and music library are vast but also highly curated by our Music Director and show hosts/DJs to reflect our goals as a radio station as well as the tastes of our listeners and supporters.

Not all songs will be officially added to rotation, it is open to the discretion of the Music Director and the team.

Songs are not officially added to rotation on DANCE 89.5 until they consistently hit a certain amount of weekly spins/plays. Once that has been achieved, those songs will go through the process of moving through various internal music categories while being evaluated each week by the Music Department.

Additionally, each of our individual specialty shows and DJs have 100% freedom to play what they want during their shows/mixes and may not include songs that are in the “daytime” or “regular” DANCE 89.5 rotations.

Any and all words that refer to a bodily function or directly violate the FCC rules on obscenity or indecency. If you are unsure about the use of a word, you probably cannot say it on the radio.

DANCE 89.5 also does not consider songs that include the following:

  • Racial slurs
  • Hateful language
  • Any form of bigotry
  • Graphic depictions of sex

Nope, this is in direct violation of the FCC Rule regarding Payola.
